  • During a national teacher shortage we are still able to provide highly-qualified teachers in their content area. In some programs, such as World Languages for elementary school students, we have had to rely on video classes on World Languages while still having a certificated teacher to monitor the classroom.

  • Continued to support programming to help accelerate learning and overcome pandemic-related learning challenges. 

 

  • Continued to support the expansion of our  PreK-12 Specialized Programs, including Pre-K3, Career and Technical Education, Advanced Courses, Technology, STEM, Tiered Interventions, Transitional Programs, and Fine, Visual, Performing and Practical Arts.

  • Offer career exploration opportunities at all grade levels including “Lunch and Learn” and “Career Cafe” opportunities at the secondary level.

  • Continued connections to the community for career opportunities including a presentation from PSE&G at FHS on that organization as well as a continued partnership with Johnson & Johnson Bridges to Employment. We are also entering into a mentoring program with Bristol Myers Squibb. 

 

  • Created a PK3 program that has now expanded to 70+ students. We are planning to grow this program. 

 

  • Expanded our Television Production program at Middle Schools.

 

  • Supported AP Tutorial opportunities to provide additional academic assistance to our diverse student population.

 

  • Provided outreach and support to minority students who, based on grades and teacher recommendations, would succeed in Honors and AP classes but didn’t apply. 

 

  • Increased graduation rate for students who couldn’t graduate because they didn’t have enough “seat time”. 

 

  • Adopted the Middlebury World Languages Program (interactive) to support K-8 World Languages teachers and programs.

    • ​During a shortage of World Languages teachers we are able to deliver, through Middlebury, a virtual teacher who is dedicated to our classroom so we can continue to offer World Languages to elementary students.

 

  • Continually increase curriculum and co-curricular offerings.

 

  • Earned District-wide Future Ready Status.

 

  • College is not for everyone and we have continued to provide opportunities for those students who do not want to attend college: 

    • We have Career & Technical Education programs for students to graduate high school and in some instances, jump immediately into the workforce. Our CTE programs include Dance and Television Production, and we are now dedicated to pursuing a CTE program in Nursing as well. Related career exploration programs in our school include our Advanced Manufacturing certificate program at Raritan Valley; our Health Professions Academy; and many career course electives in robotics, supply chain, business, and life skills that offer students opportunities to think about various careers. 

    • We also have Life Skills classes for our special needs students. 

    • We have developed an incredible relationship with Special Olympics. They now host E-Sports which is a unified program. 

    • Our award winning Junior ROTC class provides students with leadership training.

 

  • For those students who want to attend college:

    • We offer dual enrollment programs with RVCC and Rutgers. 

    • We have Honors and AP classes in the high school and our middle school students can take advantage of our Honors classes. 

    • For our elementary students we offer Gifted & Talented and Enrichment programs. Here is the link to learn more about these programs. We have continued to grow our offerings every year. 

    • Hired a FHS CTE Coordinator for Structured Learning Experiences 

    • Created an Advanced Manufacturing Certificate Program at RVCC for our high school students.

 

  • Hired a World Languages Supervisor.

 

  • Created a Middle School RVCC College Readiness Now program.
